Vitis Vinifera is the Latin name for the common grape vine that is an integral part of human life. Cultivars of Vitis Vinifera form the basis of wines produced around the world since the earliest civilizations. Modern biologists sequenced the genome of Vitis Vinifera in 2008, leading to a better understanding of plant evolution and the genes involved in the aromatic characteristics of wine itself. We chose our name as a tribute to the history of the foundational vine that has produced all of the world’s wine varieties.
French countryside meets Rogue Valley. As a student at Southern Oregon University, our winemaker was introduced to pinot noir from the Burgundy region of France and learned that Burgundy, like Oregon, has cool conditions with a lot of cloud cover. She decided to create an elegant and complex Pinot Noir in the French style mixed with the light and earthy minerality of Oregon. The result was Vinifera.
At Vinifera, we create three varietals – Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir Rosé. Our flagship wine, Vinifera Rosé of Pinot Noir, is a dry and delicate blend,
bursting with fruity aromas of strawberry, raspberry, hibiscus, and white cherry.
In our Rogue Valley tasting room, we offer tasting by flight or single glass in addition to providing a food pairing menu. Our servers are trained on-site in both wine and food. Adjacent to our indoor tasting room, we have an outdoor patio with a beautiful view that features a circular firepit for cool evenings. The patio area can be rented for events such as weddings and corporate conferences. We offer a 20% discount on wines purchased for events.
